Water Heaters

post-2

There are now more options available to homeowners than ever before when it comes to the appliances that they use in their homes. Take the water heater, for instance. Whereas the tank water heater once used to be all but your only option, the tankless water heater and heat pump water heater are both now quite popular. There is nothing wrong with sticking with a tried and true classic, though, so you may decide that sticking with a tank water heater is right for you. Here is some information to consider. Cost

One of the major advantages of using a tank water heater is that these systems are considerably less expensive to purchase than, say, a tankless water heater. Not only are they quite affordable to purchase, but they are also installed at a lower cost than tankless models, as well. Now, it pays to keep in mind the fact that a tank water heater is not going to contend with the longevity of a tankless water heater, so you will likely be replacing your tank water heater sooner than you would a tankless model. If you’ll be in your home for some time, investing in a longer lasting water heater may appeal to you.

Efficiency

Modern tank water heaters are now more efficient than ever before. Not only are newer tanks better insulated and very well designed, but there are also additional insulating materials, such as blankets, that can be used to boost the efficiency of a storage tank. That being said, standby energy loss will not be eliminated entirely. Some amount of heat will transfer out of the water heater into the air surrounding it, which is not something you’ll have to worry about with a tankless model. Still, the high price tag of a tankless system means that you’ll have to wait a considerable amount of time before the initial investment is offset by energy savings.
